Tom Blackett, Deputy Chairman Interbrand Tom Blackett is Deputy Chairman of the Interbrand Group. Interbrand was founded in London in 1974 and now has 22 offices in 20 countries and employs over 800 people. The company specialises in all aspects relating to the development and management of brands. Tom Blackett joined Interbrand in 1983. He was managing director of the company's London business from 1985 to 1989 and was appointed Group Deputy Chairman in 1996. Experienced in all areas of Interbrand's work, he has handled projects for major international brand owners like Heineken, British Telecom, Unilever, GlaxoWellcome, BP Amoco and Volvo. Prior to joining Interbrand Tom Blackett worked for five years with Inbucon Management Consultants as Research Director in their marketing division. This followed five years with Research International, then Unilever's market research subsidiary and three years with Attwood Statistics, another leading market research firm. Publications - In addition to business management and client handling Tom's role includes 'research and development'. At Interbrand this takes the form of research into the areas of branding in which the company operates, in order to improve existing services and develop new applications and markets. This results in commercial benefits - and also in a stream of published papers and articles about the work of the company.
