Dan Herman

Dr. Dan Herman is a CEO of Competitive Advantages, a strategy consulting and branding services firm, serving worldwide clients ranging from local mid-sized companies to "Fortune Global 500" corporations. Together with his highly trained team, he creates Unique Success Formulas, Emotionally Significant Brands and Short-Term 'Hit' Brands for their clients.

Among the many organizations and brands, he has worked with are multinationals such as Coca-Cola, IBM, Unilever, Motorola, Roche Pharmaceuticals, Holiday Inn, Apple computers, Suzuki, Chrysler, Warner Brothers, H. Stern as well as many others. The list also includes FC Spartak Moscow and many of Israel's leading companies in the fields of banking and financial services, telecommunications, health services, food and beverages, toiletries and cosmetics, public transportation, hotels, retail chains, the national lottery and several non-profit organizations, government agencies and political parties.

In conjunction with his consulting practice, Dr. Herman is a seminar leader, workshop moderator and conference speaker. He is the author of the best selling book "The Brand Builder's Guide", as well as of numerous articles and e-books. His books (in English, Chinese and Russian) "Just-on-Desire Branding" and "Short-Term Brands Success" will be published in the near future.

Dr. Herman’s academic studies included a BA degree in psychology and drama studies, partial studies (1 to 2 years each) in communication, philosophy, the arts, economics and computer sciences as well as an MBA and PhD in Business Administration / marketing. His PhD thesis focused on the use of hypnotic techniques in brand development. In a previous chapter of his career, Dr. Herman was an IT systems analyst and architect. 

Dan is a devoted fan of gourmet food (in particular French, Italian and Japanese cuisines), of fine wine and of quality alcoholic beverages (which he consumes moderately). He enjoys a good cigar every now and then, private dance parties, talks into the night, humor, world travel and getting acquainted with people of varied cultures and life styles. He is a great music lover (in particular classical music, the opera, jazz, blues and songwriters/performers), modern dance, the cinema, story telling, design and architecture as well as plastic arts of all sorts. Dan writes poetry and draws, mainly with coal and lead. He is a qualified personal coach for the attainment of life goals and also a certified masseur.

Some of his major interests include: strategic thinking, the psychology of the intangible aspects of our reality and of altered states (hypnosis and other trance states, interpretations of reality, imagination, positive illusions, fantasies, emotions etc.).
